Just back revived and refreshed from a lovely Easter holiday by the sea. Now we are embarking on the wedding season in earnest - a very exciting time! Every wedding we undertake is a unique affair with a unique cake or cupcake tower. Each cake is one of a kind designed by myself with the couple's input to make the cakes compliment their special day down to the ground. 

My Dad is rather amazing. In the '70's he toured with Rod Stewart and Elton John. He's been in films such as 'Gangs of New York' and got a birthday phone call from Sean Connery! Not bad for a comedian from Edinburgh. Here is the cake I made to celebrate his big birthday, using an old magazine cover when he was in Nashville with Paul McCartney and Rod Stewart. Happy 70th Dad!

Love is in the air big style at VKC!  Not only is Valentines day coming up but we are thrilled to be involved with so many special weddings this year. If you want a little taste our cupcakes and cake pops are available at Maddie and Marks Playtown in Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh, if you are out and about with the kids and you fancy a rest, cup of tea and a cake while the cakes run riot! Well, not quite yet but our rich fruit Christmas cakes are being baked this week! This will give the cakes a while to mature and be fed with brandy before being covered with marzipan and sugar paste. This year we have decided to make small Christmas cakes - just big enough for two to share and I hope to have them for sale at Traquair house the weekend of the 24th & 25th December and directly through our website. These dinky Christmas cakes will be a perfect Christmas gift or little something to take round to a friends house over the festive season. I'll post photos when they are ready!

We have a lovely couple of wedding bookings in the next couple of weeks. This Friday we have a cupcake tower made of cows and sheep! and next week we have a beautiful seahorse themed cupcake tower for a Civil Partnership of two lovely ladies. We are very honoured at VKC to be a small part of both couples very special day.

I am making up a box of 4 cupcakes for a wedding tasting tomorrow and I'm wondering about flavours. What would your choice be for your big day? 

We are looking forward to featuring at TM Lewin in George Street Edinburgh on the 1st May. We will be giving a cupcake icing demo and TM Lewin will be showcasing their new Women's collection. There will also be a skin and beauty demonstration from Benefit and lots of other treats.
